All 11 varieties in our vineyard went into budbreak last week as a result of the heat spike we experienced. This was then followed by 0.5 inches of rain on Tuesday 5/2/23. Then we returned to sunny afternoons to dry things out. Having an additional shot of water as the vines start to grow is a good thing. We just have to watch the new leaves and shoots for powdery mildew and treat it as necessary. Anyway we have officially started the new vintage and are about 5 days behind last year at this time.
Another storm is headed our way this Friday, though, with a high probability of rain all weekend. This is throwing a kink into our outdoor music this weekend. Encore 5 was scheduled to play on Sunday outside in the pergola but, with a high possibility of rain, they are too large a group to move inside. Consequently we are rescheduling Encore 5 to a later sunny day and have moved Shybo to this Sunday playing inside. The Pacifica Duo is returning to Pebblestone this Friday night and will most likely be playing inside as well. See below for more details.
Next Friday night, May 12th, we will be jointly sponsoring a charity event with Figaro’s Pizza of Phoenix benefiting 71 Five Youth Ministries and The Hope House. This will be an “all you can eat pizza” event including one glass of wine and live music – all for $25 per person. See poster below for more details and how to get reservations.
We decided to extend our April wine sale through next Sunday to give everyone a chance to take advantage of this super great deal on summer wines. Mixed cases of the two wines on sale are allowed.
We hope to see you in the tasting room with family and friends this weekend enjoying the wine, music and crazy spring weather.
